How about White Melamine?

by Elizabeth E

My house has white trim and white doors, and I am considering a white walk in closet. Would you recommend white in a larger walk in closet?

Answer: Yes and no.
If you have white trim and doors and you like white, go ahead.

Some would use white mostly in the kitchen pantry, laundry room, garage and kids' closets.

But if you want white, you do have ways to "dress up" a white walk in. You can add moldings, raised panels on drawers and doors, and special hardware.
Also your closet designer can give your closet special looks by adding tall narrow doors with frosted glass, cubbies, and maybe oddly placed drawers (like one drawer in the middle of a shelf section or at the bottom of a long hang section).

If your home is very contemporary, then you can get away with lots of white melamine with straight edge and nothing added.

The suggestions I make here are ones to follow if you are thinking re-sale value of your home. If you are not, anything goes, and you will love your Melamine closet, whether it is white or any other color.
