A number of things:
I love organizing and the beautiful results of organization.
Thoughtfully designed storage areas, wherever they may be in the house, are the foundation for an organized life.
More of my thoughts about home organization
I look at modern architecture with a critical eye and I design to compensate for the weak spots that I find often in contemporary housing. Houses without a linen closet, closets that invite chaos and mess, furniture that is impractical and mostly built for looks.
A well designed kid's room will give your child the kind of experiences early in life that will help him later to be organized and efficient. I believe in training boys to be organized and know where things are in the house, so that they will make better architects, builders, engineers and …husbands.
I love houses, human dwellings of all kinds. I have traveled quite a bit and lived in 6 countries. I have seen the many ways that people organize their environment. I often come up with original ideas to help my clients with challenges they have in their homes.
I enjoy thinking space and how people live in it. What works well and what helps them function at their highest potential?
As a rather artistic person, I love beauty. I have an eye for proportions, colors, matching styles and effects.
Not long ago, a client was quite sad about her 1950'a kitchen that she could not afford to remodel. I looked at her cabinets, they were made of real wood, the hardware was outdated, but the construction was sound. I suggested a few things to make her kitchen quite lovely and enjoyable. She is very happy with the results.
I have experience in construction, having spent 4 years doing volunteer construction work in the US. Things have not changed much since then; what I learnt then serves me well today when I design in homes that are being built.
I owned three homes in Oregon and Colorado and have worked on remodeling them myself. I found the first two very easy to sell after being done. I'm still working on the third.
All these things put together make me good at what I do. I enjoy each and every new person I meet and help put something together that will enhance their life.
I have the unique background of having been trained by and working for a major closet company in the US which lead me to 9 years of seeing homes, hearing about people's needs and desires and designing thousands of closet and storage spaces: walk ins, pantries, offices, garages, laundry rooms, entertainment centers, dressers, hobby rooms etc…
If your project is in Northern Colorado (Denver, Boulder,
Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, etc.),
I can help you realize your optimal closet or storage solution.
